Joseph Joiner and his Hunt the Front team announced they would compete in a number of Southern Nationals races following the Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series races at Lavonia and Cherokee this weekend.
In a recent YouTube upload, Joseph Joiner revealed, “We’re not coming back. Staying on the road. We’re going racing. … We going racing. We going on the road. So we got to looking at logistics and we got the Southern Nationals series starting on Sunday and I think we’re going to hit some of that. Maybe all of it.”
“Go race and go see,” he continued. “That starts Sunday at Wythe. Rural Retreat, I think, is the town. Whatever it is. I ain’t never been there. Big’un. We going to go there and then we’re going to go to Bull’s Gap, and then we’re just going to go. We’re just going to go from there. We might run all of them. We might run one of them. I don’t know. But we’re going to go race some of that and I think we’re going to have a good time.”
As Joiner shared, the Southern Nationals begins at Wythe Raceway on Sunday, July 12th and its the first of 11 races in 14 days.

- Sunday, July 12 – Wythe Raceway – $10,053 to-win
- Monday, July 13 – Volunteer Speedway – $7,552 to-win
- Tuesday, July 14 – Harris Speedway – $7,553 to-win
- Thursday, July 16 – Modoc Speedway – $7,542 to-win
- Friday, July 17 – Swainsboro Raceway – $7,553 to-win
- Saturday, July 18 – Screven Motor Speedway – $10,053 to-win
- Sunday, July 19 – Toccoa Raceway – $10,071 to-win
- Tuesday, July 21 – Senoia Raceway – $7,544 to-win
- Thursday, July 23 – Sugar Creek Raceway – $7,553 to-win
- Friday, July 24 – North Georgia Speedway – $10,053 to-win
- Saturday, July 25 – Tazewell Speedway – $10,053 to-win

The total purse for all 11 races is over $310,000. Drivers in the top five in points will also be eligible for the series Loyalty Program that pays show-up money. The top three drivers with perfect attendance will receive $500 each night while fourth and fifth will receive $300.
There is also over $21,000 up for grabs for the top 5 in points. The Champion will receive $10,053, second earns $5,053, third gets $2,553, fourth takes home $2,053, and fifth gets $1,553. Furthermore, any drivers that fulfill the requirements to be eligible for the point fund and are outside of the top 5 will receive $1,053 following the conclusion of the series at Tazewell on July 25th. Drivers must compete in 80% of events in order to be eligible for the championship and points fund.
Of note, the series drops a driver’s worse race including a missed race where the driver would have earned 0 points. However, a disqualification is ineligible to be dropped.
Kaede Loudy is the defending Southern Nationals champion. Other previous champions include Donald McIntosh, Jimmy Owens, Cory Hedgecock, Brandon Overton, Casey Roberts, Devin Gilpin, Jonathan Davenport, Chris Madden, Tommy Kerr, Anthony White, and Jeff Cooke.
Chris Madden is the all time series leader in wins with 31. Brandon Overton is second with 21 while Dale McDowell is not too far behind in third with 17.
