Jake Timm made the most of a Tuesday night trip to Winneshiek Raceway, completing a clean sweep of the evening with the USRA Kevko Racing Northern Lights Modified Series presented by Real Wheels.
Timm set the pace from the moment cars hit the speedway, earning Deatherage Opticians Quick Time honors before winning his Rick Beebe Heating & Air Conditioning heat one. The night ended in victory lane as Timm led the 25-lap Pannell Chipping A-Feature from start to finish to complete the sweep.
Timm jumped to the early lead from the pole as Rodney Sanders, Lucas Schott and current series point leader Joe Chisholm settled in behind him.
While Timm controlled the pace out front, Chisholm methodically began working his way forward. The driver of the No. 25 eventually worked his way past Schott for the third position shortly before a midrace Midwest Sheet Metal caution flag erased Timm’s advantage and bunched the field back together.
On the ensuing restart, Chisholm went to work on the bottom side of the Winneshiek Raceway surface. He quickly made his way past Sanders for second and set his sights on Timm for the race lead.
What followed was a fierce battle between the two front-runners.
Timm and Chisholm began trading sliders at opposite ends of the racetrack over the next several laps as the pair fought for control of the top spot. Contact between the two leaders eventually led to additional contact entering turn three, sending Chisholm around in front of the field.
The resulting melee also collected Joe Horgdal, Darwin Karau and Joe Ludemann, bringing out the Midwest Sheet Metal caution and dramatically changing the complexion of the race.
Chisholm was able to rejoin the field for the final restart, but Timm remained in command at the front.
With Sanders and Schott giving chase, Timm held steady over the closing laps to secure the victory and finish off a perfect night in Decorah. Sanders crossed the finish line second with Schott completing the podium.
Chisholm mounted a charge back through the field following the incident, recovering to finish fourth at the checkered flag. Harley Dais rounded out the top five.
The victory capped a dominant Tuesday night performance for Timm, who left Winneshiek Raceway with Quick Time honors, a heat race victory and the Pannell Chipping A-Feature win.
