Bob Pierce, the crew chief and father of Bobby Pierce and Dirt Late Model of Famer, had a health scare this morning and went into immediate surgery.

Bobby Pierce shared the information in a post to a Facebook following the team’s win with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series at Adams County Speedway. Pierce wrote on Facebook, “Bob gave us a little bit of a health scare this morning, & he had to go into immediate surgery. He’s really doing good now, so just wanted to give everyone an update.”

“Technology & science is a crazy thing that does wonders. He’s getting some more tests done & is being evaluated constantly, but he’s doing really well & is resting up,” he continued. “God is so good! Thanks to everyone for reaching out to offer your help or to voice your concerns. I haven’t had the opportunity or the head space to reply to all my texts and calls. I’ve been taking things one moment at a time.”

“I see your messages & I just wanted to say thank you to all of you for reaching out. Please keep sending prayers to help Bob heal up quicker,” Pierce added. “After reading this, Please don’t feel obligated to reach out to check on me as you can understand how many messages I am receiving and it is a bit overwhelming. Although Bob’s health & status is a concern, please understand we want some peace & privacy for now. I’m all good & I will see y’all soon.”

Pierce then shared an update on the team’s schedule revealing they will not compete on Thursday night for the Go 50 at Shelby County Speedway. However, he indicated the team will be in action on Friday and Saturday for the 16th Annual Silver Dollar Nationals at its new home of Shelby County.

Pierce did not provide any information on what exactly the health scare was or what the surgery was for. Back in 2021, Bob Pierce fought bladder cancer and beat it. The team honored his battle with a National Cancer Survivor themed wrap for The Dream in 2023. Bobby explained to the World of Outlaws at the time, “We brainstormed some ideas, and with my dad having gone through bladder cancer and that he’s now in the remission phase, my mom mentioned that June was National Cancer Survivor month. So, we kind of threw something together that represented anyone that’s ever dealt with it and been affected by it.”

“There’s not a single person out there that doesn’t know somebody that’s been affected by cancer. So, when you go to “The Dream,” you want to win, and when you battle cancer, you want to win,” Pierce said.
