With Mother Nature wiping out the Saturday portion of the Hayden Ross Memorial and a holiday break now in the rear-view mirror, the COMP Cams Super Dirt Series thunders into the Batesville Motor Speedway for their second appearance of the season July 17th and 18th, for the 2nd Annual Ed Rinehart Memorial. Two complete shows await drivers at the Thunder in the Grove with $5k to the victor for each night. In the series last appearance at the Locust Grove oval, Blairsville, Georgia driver Jonathan Davenport would sweep the annual Bad Boy 98 pocketing $17,000 in winner’s checks, along with a $10,000 bonus from Mark Martin Automotive for sweeping the weekend.

This weekend once again carries special meaning to CCSDS officials as it honors long-time racing supporter and sponsor Ed Rinehart who passed away in September of 2024. The Houston, Texas area businessman and former Montgomery County Commissioner supported teams, tracks, and series across Louisiana, Texas, and Arkansas. For many years, his company Ed Rinehart Trucking graced the side of his team owned cars as well as Hall of Famer Dale McDowell, Batesville’s own Wendell Wallace, and former CCSDS owner Jack Sullivan, among many others.

Through nine events on the CCSDS season, Robeline, Louisiana driver Cade Dillard holds a 165-point advantage over 2019 series champion Timothy Culp with two-time champion Kyle Beard third, defending ROY Eli Ross fourth, and defending series champion Billy Moyer 5th. Chandler Petty, Billy Moyer Jr, Scott Crigler, Morgan Bagley, and RC Whitwell complete the top 10.

Dillard leads the series win column with 5 victories on the year (Arrowhead, 67, Ark La Tex, Thunderbird), Jonathan Davenport with two (Batesville) and Kyle Beard with one (Old No 1), and Morgan Bagley with one (Poplar Bluff).

Weekend action ramps up nightly with grandstands opening at 5PM, Hot Laps at 7:30PM and racing to follow at 8PM. Also on the card will be the A2Z Signs/Schmidt Countertops Street Stocks in action for $1000 nightly and weekly classes of IMCA Stock Cars, IMCA Modifieds, Hobby Stock, Midwest Mods, and Factory Stocks on track both nights. Cruisers will run Friday only and Young Guns Saturday only. Grandstand admission is $20 12-15 years old $5 and Kids 11 and under free.
