Tanner Holmes broke down how his night went from great to terrible in a split second as he wrecked at Ransomville Speedway while working his way through lap traffic.

Holmes and his Buch Motorsports team were the dominant car last night during the High Limit Racing feature. However, just a little over halfway of the 30-lap feature, he violently flipped through turns 1 and 2 as he was attempting to move past a couple of lap cars lower on the track. The wreck started when he got his right rear off the edge of the track and that caused him to spin around and then make massive contact with the outside wall.

Following the race, Holmes broke down exactly what happened, “I’ll be straight up with you guys, just operator error tonight. Just bad deal. Bad deal at Ransomville. Probably we’re looking at our second national touring win.”

“I kinda was stuck behind a lap car, the same car, for about three laps. So that’s pry where I started getting just a little bit antsy. … The front stretch, whatever you call it, someone literally said it’s like a moat, like the ditch, or whatever’s on the front stretch here. That’s obviously what kinda got me,” he shared. “As a driver’s perspective, why that happened I feel is like, you know, you just don’t-. We don’t really race at any places that have that. So when there’s so much going, obviously, I had two cars in front of me, and maybe I did overshoot the corner a little bit, but when I have two cars in front of me like that you’re just not really looking as much to your right. You’re always looking for your mark as like the wall or maybe it gets a little flat not actually as a ditch and goes down. … And then obviously, I smoked the turn 1 wall and it was what it was.”

“Frustrating. Like I said operator error,” he reiterated. “I feel bad to throw one away for my team. These guys deserve it. The Buch car is fast, man. I’m having a great time. … You, obviously, feel bad, also happy that we got great speed and we were checked out and fast. You also know that just it happens. It’s part of it. Sometimes you do throw them away or sometimes you get upside down when you’re just going hard and you feel good.”

“I feel like I’m probably going to learn a lot from tonight to, you know, in the future avoid that. You just live and learn,” he concluded.

Holmes also spoke with FloRacing telling them, “Obviously, it’s operator error. You just get racing really hard and I feel like to win these High Limit races that what I’ve learned just winning the one, you just have to find a new level and you got to go so hard. So, obviously, that’s what I was trying to do. I felt like I got through lap traffic okay, but the last three laps there was kinda stagnant behind the one car and he was kinda moving and so I just felt a little bit of pressure like, ‘Man, I really need to clear one of these guys.’ And I thought if I could do that then I’d be in good shape. Obviously, had a big lead, but in the cockpit you just don’t know that. But felt really comfortable. I just got my right rear — I need to watch it — I think I got my right rear over the-. This is kind of an interesting configuration here. There’s like a front stretch ditch or whatever and so I ended up in the ditch, I think, with my right rear. And just spun me into the-. Hit the wall. So, obviously, once I turned I just lost the right rear and smoked the fence.”

Holmes and his Buch Motorsports team are back in action tonight with High Limit Racing competing at Stateline Speedway. They will then head to Port Royal Speedway for the two-night Bob Weikert Memorial on July 25-26. The ride won’t end there. The series then has another Roto-Rooter Midweek Series race at Bridgeport Motorsports park on July 28th. The tour takes a pretty significant break after that not racing until the Roto-Rooter Midweek Series event on August 20th at Santa Maria Speedway on the opposite end of the country in Santa Maria, California.
