Bob Pierce shared a health update after he won the USA Nationals with his son Bobby and their team.

In the middle of July, Pierce suffered a stroke. His son Bobby shared on Facebook at the time, “On Wednesday morning, Bob suffered a stroke in his motorhome.”

He went on to share that he was taken by ambulance to the Corning Airport and then life-flighted to the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. After arriving he went into emergency surgery. Bobby explained, “The surgeons ran a catheter through his groin up to his carotid artery to successfully remove a blockage. The waiting room was a tough place to be, but the surgery went great. Almost immediately after, Bob started regaining feeling, movement, and his normal speech. By yesterday, he looked and sounded even better. The surgeon told us it was a borderline major stroke, and we are blessed that the procedure was a total success.”

Pierce would undergo another procedure a few days later with Bobby sharing in another post, “My dad’s procedure went really well yesterday! They put in a carotid stent, and Bob took it like a champ with no sedation or anesthesia.”

Pierce returned to the track for the Prairie Dirt Classic, where the team finished third behind Brandon Sheppard and Hudson O’Neal. 

While at the tech hauler following USA Nationals, Pierce spoke with DIRTVision’s Peyton Williams about his health and the win, I feel a lot better now, for sure, after winning. That always helps you pump up. I’m doing alright. Just kinda slow. Getting my energy back. Taking it easy. Not working too hard. I could work slower, but I can’t stop. This racing’s good therapy. So I feel great today.”

Pierce went on to share that taking it easy has been a challenge for him, “It’s tough. I’ve been doing this since I was 17 and on the road since I was 30. So here we are. I can’t stop. Like I told them at the hospital, I said, ‘Whatever you got to do to get me out of here so I can go back to the race track, do it. I don’t care.’ When they put the stent in me, they didn’t put me out so I took it raw. I said, ‘It gets me out tomorrow, I’m taking it.’ It was tough, but I did it. And I did get out the next day. So here we are.”

Pierce also lauded his son’s success not only in the USA Nationals, but what he has already accomplished in his career with all his wins and Crown Jewel wins.

“There ain’t nothing like it,” he said. “He wins me a lot. I don’t have one win that compares to what he’s doing right now. It’s gratifying, satisfying, exciting. I’m proud of him of all get out, you know what I’m saying. And to do it with him that’s the best. I know a lot of dad and son deals have done this deal, some of it successful too, but I didn’t think it ever would’ve happened. It’s kinda crazy. And then to do it the way we’re doing it, it’s amazing. I’m having a ball.”

Pierce concluded his interview by thanking everyone for praying him, “I thank everybody for all the prayers. I really appreciate it. Thank you guys so much. Thank you.”
