One of dirt Late Model racing’s most prestigious traditions returns this weekend as the 44th Annual Sunoco Race Fuels North/South 100 presented by Lucas Oil takes center stage at Florence Speedway, August 6-8.
The three-day spectacular culminates Saturday night with the 100-lap, $75,000-to-win North/South 100, one of the richest and most coveted victories in dirt Late Model racing. More than $330,000 in total purse money will be awarded throughout the weekend as the nation’s top drivers converge on the legendary Northern Kentucky oval.
The North/South 100 features a unique format that rewards consistency throughout the weekend. Thursday and Friday each feature complete racing programs, highlighted by $6,000-to-win preliminary features.
Adding even more intrigue to qualifying, the 34th-fastest qualifier on both Thursday and Friday will receive a $1,034 bonus in memory of Doug Lee, sponsored by Slicker Graphics.
Drivers earn event points during each preliminary night, with their combined point totals determining Saturday’s heat race lineups. Every qualifying lap, heat race position, and feature finish can prove critical in the battle to secure the best possible starting position for Saturday’s championship program.
Friday’s festivities will also feature the Hellraizer Jacks Pit Crew Challenge, where participating teams will go head-to-head in a timed tire-changing competition to determine which crew is the fastest in the pits. The winning team will take home $10,000 and a brand-new Hellraizer Jack, while fans get an up-close look at the teamwork, speed, and precision that play a critical role in every Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series event. In addition, a $3,000 cash award will go to the Best Appearing Crew, based on crew uniforms and overall team presentation, as selected by Hellraizer Jacks representatives.
Saturday’s championship program features even more drama before the green flag waves on the North/South 100. Following the heat races, each heat race winner will participate in the $5,000-to-win Ron and Madeleine Jerger Dash for Cash Presented by Cincinnati Investment Advisors. Drivers will first draw for their starting positions in the Dash, then battle for the winner’s prize while simultaneously determining the starting lineup for the first rows of the 100-lap North/South 100.
Saturday’s action concludes with the 100-lap, $75,000-to-win Sunoco Race Fuels North/South 100 presented by Lucas Oil. Drivers who do not transfer into the main event will still have an opportunity to race for a $3,000 winner’s payday in the Non-Qualifiers Race before the field is set for one of dirt Late Model racing’s crown jewel events.
For more than four decades, the North/South 100 has produced unforgettable moments and crowned many of the sport’s biggest stars. Winning at Florence Speedway places a driver’s name alongside an elite list of champions, making the event one of the most sought-after victories on the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series schedule.

The preliminary night format makes every lap matter because drivers are racing for points that determine Saturday’s heat race lineups. The National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. Saturday. Among this year’s inductees are Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Director Rick Schwallie and former series champion Earl Pearson Jr., who will be honored for their outstanding contributions to dirt Late Model racing. While the induction ceremony is not open to the public, fans can watch the celebration live on FloRacing before attention turns back to Florence Speedway for the afternoon’s championship program and the 44th Annual Sunoco Race Fuels North/South 100.
On Thursday and Friday, the pit gate opens at 3:00 PM, while the general admission gates open at 6:00 PM. Hot laps start at 7:00 PM. The pit and general admission gates will all open at 3:00 PM for Saturday’s Sunoco North/South 100 presented by Lucas Oil. Hot laps are set to begin at 7:00 PM on Saturday.
Florence Speedway is a half-mile clay oval located in Northern Kentucky off Interstate 71/75, approximately 25 miles south of Cincinnati, Ohio. Tickets, reserved seating, camping information, and the complete event schedule are available at FlorenceSpeedway.com.
The championship race is also beginning to intensify as the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series heads into one of the biggest weekends of the season. Brandon Sheppard enters Florence Speedway atop the Big River Steel Championship Standings Presented by ARP holding a 135-point advantage over Hudson O’Neal. Devin Moran sits third, just 95 points behind O’Neal, while Brandon Overton and Max Blair round out the top five entering the North/South 100 weekend.
