Cade Dillard explained the change in his late model racing schedule that has seen him race closer to him in the COMP Cams Super Dirt Series rather than on the road with a national tour like the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series or the World of Outlaws Late Models.

Dillard has found success with the COMP Cams series this year. He has a healthy 260 point lead over Kyle Beard and has won nearly 50% of the races run so far. He has 7 wins, 11 Top 5s, and 13 Top 10s in 15 features with the series. He also got his first DIRTcar Summer Nationals win at I-55 Federated Auto Parts Raceway Park in June. Overall he has 9 wins in the late model and is one of the winningest drivers so far this year. On top of competing with COMP Cams, Dillard has found success in his Modified with wins at Central Arizona Raceway, Scotland County Speedway, Boothill Speedway, and Cedar Lake Speedway.

While Dillard has found success racing regionally with COMP Cams, it has not come without critics. Dillard addressed them in a post to Facebook while also explaining why he’s running closer to home. He wrote, “It’s no secret my 2026 schedule hasn’t been what it has in the 12+ past years. I’ve seen the comments on that. ‘He’s running this cause Bobby Pierce isn’t there.’ ‘He can’t line up with Lucas guys.’ ‘He’s mod racing this weekend cause he can’t compete in late model.’ This, that and more. Will I ever have years in my career like Bobby Pierce has had? Probably never. I still love racing as much as anyone. It’s been my life! I’ve been up and down the road millions of miles.”

As for the change in schedule, Dillard explained, “However, the reason for the change in schedule is because of moments I didn’t want to miss. This year I had the opportunity to see my son drive to his first ever go kart win with 2 laps to go! I stood in the infield jumping up and down in tears. I watched my daughter make a game winning catch to win State for her team. I stood out there jumping up and down again. I had the opportunity to be there when her team won the Softball World Series!!! I jumped up and down even higher! At the end of the day, these were World 100 wins for me!”

“I’m thankful for car owners like Shane and Shelly Sprinkle that’s allowed me to make a schedule that’s allowed me to be there for these moments,” he continued. “Even though they have the equipment and resources to win every dirt late model race in the country, they have stayed loyal to me and allowed me to be there for moments like this. For that, I’m forever thankful for them, all my sponsors and fans that stay behind us, even if 100+ races a year aren’t getting ran.”
