Kyle Larson Speculates That Carson Hocevar’s Spin At Loudoun Before The Race Was “1000% Just To Get On TV”

Kyle Larson shared his speculation that Carson Hocevar’s spin before the NASCAR Cup Series race at Loudoun was done to get on television.

On the pace laps ahead of the start of the race, Hocevar drove in front of the pace car and spun out.

On Facebook, Hocevar made light of the situation writing, “See Cleetus, I was telling you even cup drivers spin out by themselves every now and again.”

Joey Logano had a front row seat to the spin and witnessed Hocevar accelerate past the pace car and spin out. Afterwards, he commented to his team, “Look at this guy. Look at this idiot. Geez.”

As for Larson he shared his speculation during an appearance on Door Bumper Clear, where they were discussing Hocevar’s race. First, he shared, “I don’t think you have to totally neuter him, but I almost feel like he’s at the point now where it’s not really him. It’s a piece of him, but he’s like going above what he really is.”

Host Freddie Craft then shared his take, “I feel like he treats it like his [freaking] Twitch stream. Like he’s playing a game out there and he’s doing for attention, or for clicks, or for views.”

Larson then chimed in, “I mean spinning out before the race that was 1000% just to get on TV.”

Not only did Larson comment on Hocevar’s pre-race spin, but he also discussed his spin off of Connor Zilisch’s nose. Coming down the front stretch, Hocevar was the top of three with Zilisch in the middle above Brad Keselowski. Zilisch and Hocevar made slight contact then Hocevar came down across Zilisch’s nose and it sent him spinning.

Following the incident, Hocevar expressed some displeasure with Zilisch by dooring him through the corner.

In a post-race interview, Hocevar took the blame for the initial spin telling Dustin Long, “I think I spun myself. He got into me and I thought I was clear or something. I don’t know what I did. I turned left to try and get to the bottom and cover and I think I pretty much spun myself. Luckily, I didn’t kill my car and ruin another week for us. So, yeah, I think I spun myself pretty easily.”

Larson reacted to all of this saying on Door Bumper Clear, “That’s what I don’t understand. You admit that you wrecked yourself, but then you still go out and run right through him the next chance you get.”

Craft then interjected, “I feel like it’s all a [freaking] gimmick. I think he’s a super talented race car driver. I wish he would just go back to driving a race car instead of worrying about what everybody thinks because, yes, you got to build a fanbase, but eventually everybody’s going to get fed up with your [crap] if you’re running like this. If you’re competing for wins, winning Talladega, great story, unbelievable [freaking] celebration. If you’re competing for wins, yes, you’re going to continue to stay up top. But if you’re just playing this [freaking] gimmick every week and then you’re running 20th now like he has been the last three weeks, it’s going to get old pretty quick.”
