Anthony Macri provided details on the injury that kept him out of Saturday’s 4-Crown Nationals at Eldora Speedway.

On Friday night during the High Limit Racing series feature Macri was running in second and was attempting to reel in leader Rico Abreu. Unfortunately, he got up into the outside wall, rode around the wall before the rear end flipped up. It then caught the catch fence and threw the car on its side. It bounced off the track with the contact righting the car. Unfortunately, Parker Price Miller, who had nowhere to go collided with Macri. The impact nearly turned the car a full 360 degrees before it came to a stop.

Macri was escorted into an ambulance following the wreck and appeared to do so very gingerly.

On Saturday, his team announced he would be pulling out of the finale in order to prepare and focus for the next three race weekends.

Following this announcement, he spoke with FloRacing’s Kyle McFadden where he first broke down what happened that caused the wreck, “The car started to come back to me, and I could tell. I was tracking Rico down, and that lap I just pushed a little bit harder and just messed up and got into the wall, and that was that, unfortunately.”

Next, he shared what he injured in the wreck, “Right away once I was done crashing I had an immediate pain in my back that I had never experienced before. So after the care center (visit inside Eldora Speedway) I decided to go get some scans done (at a local hospital). I now have an MRI when I get back home here to clear some things up.”

Additionally, he revealed that he’s “a little banged up,” but McFadden indicated he was optimistic about competing in the next few weekends.

Macri has had a successful season so far. He’s racked up 14 wins, 36 Top 5s, and 50 Top 10s in 72 features. His most recent came on September 13th at Selinsgrove Speedway. He’s also won at Port Royal, BAPS Motor Speedway, where he’s second in points behind Danny Dietrich, Williams Grove Speedway, Lincoln Speedway, and the Kings Royal crown jewel at Eldora Speedway.
