ASD Motorsports seemingly offered an opportunity to Rico Abreu to get him behind the wheel of dirt late model for next year’s Gateway Dirt Nationals.

The offer came after Abreu announced his intention to compete in the event in 2026. The High Limit Racing champion posted on Facebook, “”I want to officially put my name in for the 2026 Gateway Dirt Nationals. This is not a joke. I’d love to do some beatin and banging with the fender guys at the dome!”

“I’m going to watch this year and take some notes,” he added.

In another post he added, “All I want for Christmas is a invitation to the 2026 Gateway Dirt Nationals.

ASD Motorsports, which is owned by Ian Stewart and John Henderson and fields a full-time driven by Ethan Dotson with Henderson competing part-time, responded to Abreu’s announcement saying, “Hey Rico, We might be able to help you out with this idea. Lets talk.”

“This is also not a joke- we’d love to see you out there next year in an ASD car,” it added. “Let’s make it happen!! Anyone else think this would be badass for The Dome 2026?!”

Abreu is no stranger to the Gateway Dirt Nationals. He competed in the event when it still featured a Midget class. As referenced in his second Facebook, he was also famously carried into the stadium by Scott Bloomquist during driver introductions back in 2018.

In 2018 he finished seventh in the A-Main on Friday night, but followed that up with a third place podium finish on Saturday night behind eventual winner Christopher Bell and Shane Golobic.
