Atomic Speedway and track promoter and owner Charlie Vest responded to STP Motorsports accusation that he did not pay them $15,000 after winning the track’s Night the Stars Come Out 410 Sprint Car feature with Bryce Lucius on Saturday October 25th.

STP Motorsports alleged in a Facebook post last night, “It is sad for me to report that after winning the Sprint Car race at Atomic Speedway on October 25, 2025, STP Motorsports has not been paid the advertised $15,000 winner’s purse.”

“Since that race, we have received two separate checks from Atomic Speedway and track promoter Charlie Vest for the $15,000 winnings,” the team added. “Both checks were returned due to insufficient funds. We were later advised that payment would be made via wire transfer, which has not been received as of this posting.”

Additionally, it threatened legal action against Atomic and Vest, “At this point, we are proceeding with both criminal and civil remedies to recover our unpaid winnings and related damages. This step was not taken lightly but follows multiple broken promises regarding payment.”

Additionally, in the comments, Austin McCarl, who finished 9th in Saturday night’s feature also said he had not been paid, “I haven’t gotten my money for Saturday either.”

StockCarReport.com spoke with Vest and he asserted that STP Motorsports “has been paid.”

As for what happened, Vest shared that there was an issue with an automatic account transfer that did not go through in the middle of November. This caused an issue with a number of the teams not getting their winnings. Vest noticed this and began contacting teams to let them know about the issue so he could resolve it. This issue was the cause of one of the checks that STP Motorsports received not clearing.

Regarding the second check that STP Motorsports received, Vest shared that it was sent via certified mail at the beginning of December to STP Motorsports and cleared yesterday.

Vest also addressed McCarl’s claims noting he did not see any issue with his check, but had reached out to him to get the issue resolved. He also emphasized, “We’re not a Barry Braun” and that he and his team work with teams and drivers to get them paid.

In a Facebook livestream Vest shared more details, “Obviously, we had an issue with some payments after The Night the Stars Come Out, which we did immediately, contact the people when we found out there was an issue and made arrangements to do that … as well as Tyson with STP [Motorsports]. As a matter of fact, he and I just had a wonderful conversation. I’m not quite sure how that happens after what’s transpired, but we did.”

“It’s completely the track and myself’s responsibility to make sure the purses are paid and sometimes the timing and the way things work out financially it just doesn’t happen,” he continued. “However, [Tyson] will verify with you that he has been paid as well as everybody else. … His funds have cleared. He does have his money. As a matter of fact, they cleared before he ever did his post. The irony of the timing is really ridiculous.”

“But wanted to get that out there and make sure everybody knew, knew where we were. We’re not dodging our financial responsibilities. It absolutely sucks. It’s embarrassing and I hate it. But if somebody is owed money they are paid,” Vest added.
