Following one of the best races of the season where Josh Rice was able to capture his first win at Eldora Speedway and best Bobby Pierce, who finished in second, Pierce did not participate in a podium interview following the conclusion of the race.
After an emotional winner’s interview with Josh Rice, FloRacing’s pit reporter Mike Norris shared that Pierce refrained from conducting an interview. He said, “Well guys, quick update. Bobby Pierce, he cleared tech and they are headed back to the trailer. They want to start working already on that race car. So he refrained.”
During the post-race show, FloRacing’s Michael Rigsby would provide another update from Larry Hank, “Hey, watch the replay. Bobby hit Ferguson during the wreck. Took his spoiler out and glared the right rear a little bit.”
FloRacing also showed Pierce’s car at his hauler and it was being inspected and repairs were being made.
Pierce did indeed make contact with Ferguson as he was flipping on the first lap of the race. Pierce’s right rear clipped Ferguson’s left rear and had Pierce pointed head first into the wall. However, he was able to correct it and took it home for a second place finish.
Over on X, Pierce explained that he did not technically refrain from the interview, but expected FloRacing to interview him at his hauler and he was more focused at getting his car back to his hauler so they could begin repairs.
Pierce wrote, ” I figured they would just interview at the trailer since I parked on the front stretch. Getting a 2nd place interview was the least of my worries. Fixing the damage on the car was my only concern at the moment.”
On Facebook, Pierce shared some more details, “I figured I would just interview at my trailer since I was parked on the front stretch. At the time getting a 2nd place interview was the least of my worries. With rain on the way, fixing the damage on my car was my only concern at the moment. My Crew and I worked until 1:30 to get the car finished.”
What do you make of Pierce’s explanation?
