Brandon Overton and his Riggs Motorsports team announced it will compete with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series in 2026.

In a post to Facebook, Overton and his team shared, “Full dig. Raise hell. Going FloRacing Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series racing in 2026.”

The announcement comes after Overton had solid performances during the World of Outlaws opener at Volusia Speedway Park for the DIRTcar Sunshine Nationals. Overton had a 12th, 13th, and 8th place finish and currently sits in 8th place in Outlaws points following the weekend, only 46 points behind current leader Brandon Sheppard.

Overton’s choice of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series for 2026 is not all that surprising. He indicated at the Gateway Dirt Nationals that he expected to run a similar schedule to the one in 2025. He said, “I don’t see anything changing.”

While Overton’s schedule won’t be different, his team will not be the Longhorn Factory Team anymore. The split was announced at the end of November with Riggs Motorsports’s Scott Riggs telling FloRacing, “Let me start up by saying (Longhorn’s) Steve (Arpin) and I are still good friends, so nothing happened there. It’s not a blow up. It’s simply that they want to go a different route on their (chassis) development program instead of using a team that goes on the road and tries to win races, which is probably the right way to do it and I totally get it.”

He added, “And for us, we’re racers, we’re going to race, and we’re going to keep our Riggs Motorsports brand going. We’re going to continue to buy their (Longhorn) product and race their stuff and hopefully get help from them, which they said, ‘No problem.’ But we kind of want to be on our own.”

Overton finished the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series in 2025 7th in points and only notched one win. He’ll be looking to bag a few more wins and compete for a championship this year.

It all starts at All-Tech Raceway. The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will have a practice night at the track on February 18th. Racing action then commences on the 19th and runs through Saturday, the 21st.
