Brandon Sheppard showed off the flat tire that “split completely apart” that foiled his chances at a win at Fairbury in the Summer Nationals 2025 Hell Tour.
Sheppard did not have the best start to the night. He qualified in 17th, but showed that he had a ton of speed in his car and finished second in Heat 5 after starting in sixth. That finish gave him a manageable tenth place start especially since he had moved up three spots to 7th just five laps into the race. Unfortunately, he suffered a flat right rear on Lap 6 and had to go to the rear of the field after changing it.
He worked his way up through the field the rest of the race and eventually salvaged a tenth place finish.
On Facebook, he shared a photo of the split tire saying, “Complete tire failure. Stacked field at Fairbury tonight. We rolled off 10th in the A-Main, car felt really good—was up to 7th by lap 5. Then the tire split completely apart. Restarted 24th and drove it back up to 8th in 45 laps.”
“Sucks when you know you’ve got a good piece under you, but that’s racing,” he added. “We’ll saddle up and give it another go next weekend in the Rocket1 at Lernerville.”
What do you make of this complete tire failure?
