NASCAR Cup Series competitor Bubba Wallace spoke with the media ahead of the race at Atlanta Motor Speedway and indicated that “things are going to change” for him especially with a baby around the corner where racing won’t matter.
Speaking with the media, Wallace spoke about missing the playoffs, “And so on the outside looking in sucks, you know, but at the same time you’re happy for the team and I can say that confidently, not just blowing smoke. It’s cool to see how everybody’s come together and worked their ass off to get to where we are and build fast race cars.”
He continued, “I mean, every track we show up to, you can count on the 23 and 45. And as a racetrack for myself that’s all you can ask for, is just to be competitive and that’s what we’re at. So it’s fun having the pressure of figuring it out when the weekend starts because you know that the car is capable of winning. So make sure you do that. Obviously, I got to do a better job at doing that.”
“All in all, you just move forward these next 10 weeks and let’s see what we can do,” he added.
For the drivers that just missed the playoffs, they need to try to move on … Bubba Wallace on how many sob days he has had, how many more he will and his outlook (he predicted yesterday he’d qualify 18th; he was 24th). pic.twitter.com/fC9oUraVHE

Fox NASCAR insider Bob Pockrass then asked Wallace, “Did you have a sob day?”
Wallace responded, “Every day that ended in Y. Today ends in Y ,right?” Pockrass responded, “Every day ends in Y.” Wallace then added, “Yeah, no shit. Glad you got the joke, Bob.”
Pockrass then followed up asking, “How many more days do you think you have before you get over it?”
Wallace replied, “Until it changes. Until there’s no more days that end in Y, I guess for the next 10 weeks.”
“I don’t know, I got 26 days to where — oh, people are going to have a heyday with this — to where racing don’t matter. I’m about to have a kid. So things are going to change. So, I’m good though. It’s a new weekend. I’ll put all the BS aside and go out and probably qualify 18th today and then go and hopefully have a good day Sunday.”
Wallace ended up qualifying 24th and finished in 29th after being involved in a last lap wreck.
