The zMAX CARS Tour canceled the Pro Late Model portion of its upcoming event at Dominion Raceway in Virginia.

The event was expected to take place on June 14th and was the first time the CARS Tour was bringing its Pro Late Model division to Dominion Raceway.

CARS Tour Executive Director Kip Childress explained the decision, “Making decisions to cancel or change in the racing world are never easy nor are they taken lightly. Today’s announcement is a perfect example but one that, for various reasons, we feel is necessary. Our Pro Late Model division is made up of different types of race teams. There are teams who tackle all of the big events around the southeast, if not the entire country as well as family-based teams who are extremely cognizant of where each of their travel dollars go. Dominion’s race date and location happens to impact both of those types of teams.”

“We all know that the Snowball Derby and the events surrounding it are huge in the Pro Late Model world, and there is a Road to the Snowflake race on that weekend that several of our teams were hoping to attend. Additionally, Dominion is one of the longest trips from our hub in North Carolina, possibly putting a strain on our family-based travel budgets. Removing the Pros from the Dominion weekend will hopefully be able to help teams in both of those scenarios,” he concluded.

Childress did reveal that the race will be rescheduled, but at a different venue other than Dominion Raceway, “This race will be added to the schedule at a later date at a different venue.”
