Chase Briscoe shared that he is not a fan of Atlanta being the first race in the NASCAR In-Season Challenge.

During an appearance on Sirius XM NASCAR Radio, Briscoe said, “I’m not a fan, personally. You know, I love the racing at Atlanta. I thought the other night-. Obviously, I was just kind of watching as a fan. I was knocked out of the race. And I thought it was just so intense. Obviously, I kind of have a little bit different perspective because I know the move that they are making and what it’s like inside, but yeah, I thought the race to watch was just incredible there at the end.”

“You know as the competitor side of me, I definitely don’t love a super speedway to start off a bracket challenge and even really being in the bracket at all. It definitely changes things. There’s so much out of your control as a driver. But it was the same for everybody. The teams that moved on they did a good job, or missed the wrecks, or whatever. I think, for me, I definitely would have liked to have been able to control my destiny a little bit more. And just go to tracks where you feel likes there’s just more for the whole team, right? Where it’s kind of more of an entire team effort. I thought for the bracket challenge that just would have been a better overall product at least from the competitor side of things. From the fan side, it definitely created chaos, which is a lot of fun.”

Briscoe finished in 35th after being involved in a wreck just 69 laps into the race that collected about half of the field. He was the second seeded driver in the challenge and was up against Noah Gragson. Gragson finished in 25th, 8 laps behind the leader.

The second round of the In-Season Challenge will take place at the Chicago Street Race. There are only 16 drivers left. Ty Dillon will face off against Brad Keselowski. Alex Bowman is up against Bubba Wallace. John Hunter Nemechek goes head-to-head with Atlanta winner Chase Elliott. Erik Jones takes on Ricky Stenhouse Jr. Gragson faces off against Ryan Preece. Carson Hocevar is up against Tyler Reddick, AJ Allmendinger is up against Ty Gibbs. And Zain Smith faces off against Chris Buescher.
