Corey Day gave it all he had and more in an attempt to track down and beat Buddy Kofoid during the High Limit Racing event at Eagle Raceway for the Eagle Nationals.

With five laps to go, Day made contact with the back stretch wall and rode it until it ended. However, his car continued to turn right and not only clipped the beginning of the guard rail in turn 3, but got on top of it and grinded it like Tony Hawk on a skateboard. After briefly grinding the top of the guard rail the car then spun over top it leaving the racing surface. It eventually came to a stop after crashing into the catch fence.

Day exited the car seemingly unharmed and spoke to FloRacing following the wreck saying, “Yeah, I’m all good. Just trying really hard there. I think when I got into Buddy my front end was messed up. And got high off of 2 and felt like I couldn’t turn as good as I could the whole race before that.”

“I wasn’t lifting. It’s $55,000 to win,” he added. “I’d go redo that one, but I was trying.”

He later added, “I feel like my wheels didn’t go as far left as they did before that. I was plugged into the wall. And I was counting, I think there was only five or something to go and I knew my chances were getting limited. Yeah, I’d go run second for $20,000 instead of winning if I could redo that one, but it is what it is.”

On X, Day stated, “First off, I sit here thanking the man above for keeping me safe, and allowing me to be able to race another day. Second, I apologize to the Jason Meyers Racing boys for creating more work than necessary. With that being said, some people love how I drive, and some people hate it, but I can promise one thing, I’ll never change. Thank you to everyone who supports me, we will have a fresh one ready for Knoxville on Friday.”

Kofoid would go on to win the race holding off a late charging Anthony Macri, who finished in 2nd. Aaron Reutzel completed the podium in third. Brad Sweet and Tyler Courtney rounded out your top five.

With Sweet’s fourth place finish he has a 10 point lead over Courtney who sits in second. Reutzel is just 13 points behind with Rico Abreu, who finished in 18th, 30 points behind in fourth. Brent Marks is fifth, just 35 points behind.

What do you make of the wreck and Day’s comments afterwards?
