Corey LaJoie compared racing for Spire Motorsports in the NASCAR Trucks division after they dumped him from their Cup program to being cuckolded.

Speaking to the media ahead of the Truck race at Michigan, LaJoie said, “It’s been a lot of emotions going back in there.”

Next, he shared his analogy, “It’s like when you’ve worked building a house for five years, and then your wife becomes a TikTok star, and says she’s not happy anymore, and she kicks you out. And then she calls you back a year later and you have to go live in the guest room and she’s there with her new boyfriend. That’s how this thing goes.”

LaJoie was dropped by Spire Motorsports for the 2025 season back in July 2024. LaJoie said in a statement to The New York Times at the time, “I won’t be driving the 7 car next year. I take a lot of satisfaction from having an integral part of building Spire into a respectable team on the grid, but unfortunately the future won’t involve me. We will finish the remainder of 2024 strong, continuing to deliver for my partners, my guys who work hard to build good cars, family, fans & friends who have supported me since day one in the Cup Series.”

“This chapter ends after Phoenix and I’m excited to see what the Lord has in store for my family next,” he concluded.

However, Spire announced he would return for a nine race stint in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck series beginning with this weekend at Michigan. The team announced in a press release, “Corey LaJoie will return to Spire Motorsports to campaign the team’s No. 07 Chevrolet Silverado for nine of the final 13 NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck races of 2025, beginning with Saturday’s DQS Solutions and Staffing 200 at Michigan International Speedway.”

As part of the press release, LaJoie said, “I’m looking forward to getting back in the seat and chasing some NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series wins. “I put in a lot of work in the early days to help shape Spire Motorsports, and I still have some friends that have been there since day one, so it’ll be good to see them. The No. 07 team has been bringing some fast trucks to the track this year and are looking for a spot in the owner’s playoffs. It’ll be nice to have some consistency with the team to get acclimated to these vehicles, chase some wins and hopefully, a CRAFTSMAN Truck Series owner’s championship.”

Spire Motorsports co-owner Jeff Dickerson also commented on LaJoie’s return to the team, “While discussing our best path to bring Spire our first CRAFTSMAN Truck Series Championship and describing what we needed in a driver, the driver we were all talking about without saying his name was Corey LaJoie. so, when I ran into Corey in the motorhome lot one morning earlier this spring, I asked him what he thought about coming home and doing this. He is synonymous with what we’ve built here over the last few years and deserves this opportunity. I’m looking forward to getting him in the truck at Michigan to work out some kinks and start getting a game plan together for the playoffs.”
