Dale McDowell revealed what his plans are for 2026 and revealed it will be very similar to this past year.
Speaking to StockCarReport.com, McDowell said, “I think we’re going to do about the same thing. Don’t think we’ll race any through Speedweeks as of right now.”
When asked if he would do announcing he said, “I don’t know. I might go down and do some of that. I don’t know. It’s just according to if they call me and invite me down. I enjoyed doing that.”
“I’ll be down there to watch some of them, certainly,” he continued. “But we won’t start our stuff back up ’til March, early March. And we’re fortunate around the east Tennessee area right there. There’s a lot of racing that goes on in about a 150, 200 mile radius of us right there in east Tennessee. So we’ll get started back up in March and go from there.”
MyRacePass notes that McDowell competed in 28 features this year. He racked up 4 wins, 17 top 5s, and 23 top 10s. While it does not sound like he’ll compete in Speedweeks next year, he did make appearances at Volusia and All-Tech this year in the Riggs Motorsports 81J. However, he didn’t pull his familiar 17M out until the World of Outlaws at Smokey Mountain Speedway in the middle of March to really kick off the season.
He would go on to compete at Talladega Short Track, I-75 Raceway, Tazewell Speedway, Sugar Creek Raceway, Lake Cumberland Speedway, Florence Speedway, Wythe Raceway, Volunteer Speedway, North Georgia Speedway, Duck River Raceway Park, Batesville Motor Speedway, Dixie Speedway, and, of course, Eldora and The Dirt Track at Charlotte this weekend.
Two of McDowell’s wins this year came in preliminary competition at Eldora for the World 100 in September. His other wins came at Smoky Mountain Speedway with the Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series and the Talladega Short Track with Hunt the Front as well. On top of those two wins he had 5 top 5s, 7 top 10s in 8 features in the series.
