Daniel Suarez announced he will not return to Trackhouse Racing for the 2026 season after he and Trackhouse mutually agreed to part ways.

Suarez made the announcement on X writing, “Trackhouse and I have mutually agreed to part ways at the end of the 2025 season. I’ve had some of the best years of my Cup Series career at Trackhouse. We had some great successes as a team and I gained some incredible friends. We took a team nobody had even heard of in 2021 and in just a couple of years we were winning races and running upfront on a weekly basis.”

“Just like the seasons in a year, sometimes things change and we have agreed to each go in our own direction,” he continued. “I wish Trackhouse nothing but the best, this 99 team will always be special to me. And like I always say, The best is ahead!”

In a blog post on its website Trackhouse owner Justin Marks stated, “The role Daniel has played in the Trackhouse origin story and its first five years will remain a valued part of the company’s history forever. His commitment, work ethic and dedication to the effort is one of the most impressive things I personally have seen in my career. We will forever be thankful and honored that Daniel chose to spend many incredible years with us. We are proud of his wins, his successes, the growth of his brand, and his emergence as a valuable athlete in America’s greatest motorsport. But, most of all, I’m proud of him as a friend. I’m truly excited to see what awaits him in the next chapter of his amazing career. We are grateful for the professionalism, effort and heart he’s brought to our organization.”

The announcement is a little surprising given Suarez recently shared on the Dale Jr. Download that an announcement about his negotiations with Trackhouse would not be made for a couple months. He told Dale Earnhardt Jr., “I would say it’s not going to be soon, soon, but it’s going to maybe be in a couple months, few months. We’ll see what happens. There’s still a lot of things in the air right now.”

However, he did hint that things were not as peachy as he would have liked them. He said, “There is just something that I’m just a little bit uncomfortable in a few areas, in a few things. The way that a few things that have been handled. But, like I said, I love Trackhouse and I love this team. And this team for me has been my best home in the Cup series. And I want to have more success with this team. And I want to see this team successful regardless of if I’m in it or not.”

Suarez is currently 29th in the NASCAR Cup standings. He’s currently 129 points behind Bubba Wallace, who is currently in the 16th and final playoff position. Suarez has only had 1 Top 5 this year and just 3 Top 10s. He’s had 5 DNFs. His average finish is 21.4.

It’s unclear where Suarez might go or who will replace him. However, Fox Sports’ NASCAR insider Bob Pockrass says the expectation is that Connor Zilisch will replace him and move up to the Cup Series. As for Suarez he said it is possible that he could land a ride in JRM’s 88 car, which Zilisch will be vacating to run in Cup.
