Devin Moran had a strong performance in a thrilling opening night race at All-Tech Raceway with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series.

Moran started in fifth and brought it home second and was challenging for the lead late in the race. He made an aggressive move on the final restart of the race with 11 laps to go that catapulted him from fourth to second coming out of turn two. He restarted at the very top of the track was able to keep his momentum through 1 and 2 and motored past both Brandon Overton and Carson Ferguson after he exited the corner.

From there, he began tracking down race leader Brandon Sheppard, but was never able to get within striking distance to challenge for the lead as Sheppard kept him about half a second back the rest of the way.

In his podium interview with FloRacing’s Ben Shelton, Moran was asked if he could have done anything else to get past Brandon Sheppard and into victory lane. He answered, “Just got to keep working on the race car. As hard as I was driving out there is as hard as my guys have been working the last week and a half.”

“We struggled really bad at Volusia last week and just trying to find the balance,” he continued. “We’ve picked up the speed, definitely. Now, we just got to work on the balance. Sheppy and them guys did a great job. Yeah, just refreshing to get back up here and talk to you guys.”

Moran then shared, “On the caution I realized how much crumbs were out there and I could kinda gas it up. I was like, ‘Man, there’s a lot of grip out here.’ And then on the restart I about split them on the restart. I knew there was going to be a lot of grip so I just kind of ran that floater line and it worked out really well. All-in-all, a great first points night, for sure. We’ll take that.”
