Devin Moran will not be competing tonight with the World of Outlaws Late Models at Volusia Speedway Park in its final night of the DIRTcar Nationals.
In a post to Facebook, Moran explained why, “Sometimes the best way to get better is to step back and regroup.”
“As a team we’ve decided to not race tonight and thoroughly go through the car instead,” he elaborated. “What we were doing wasn’t moving us in the right direction and our main focus is to get better for when the Lucas Oil races start next week.”
He then apologized to fans expecting him to race tonight, “So sorry to any fans that were expecting to see us tonight. We’ll be back next week at All-Tech with hopefully better performances.”
“The T-shirt trailer will not be open tonight due to the series rules,” he concluded. “We appreciate everyone for checking in and making sure lakia was okay after seeing the trailer closed!”
The defending Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series champion started off strong at Volusia Speedway Park. He podiumed his first night out with a third place finish on Monday, February 9th. He followed that up with a top 10 on Tuesday with an 8th place finish.
However, he began struggling starting on Wednesday. He finished 7th in the third feature. It did not get any better on Thursday. He finished 4th in the second last chance showdown just one spot out of the transfer. Finally, on Friday he finished 11th in the second last chance showdown.
It’s definitely a lot different than his 2025 performance at the track. During the Big Gator week, he finished 11th and 12th on Monday and Tuesday before bringing it home second in the second feature on Wednesday. Once World of Outlaws competition began he turned up the wick. He finished third on Thursday night, took home the gator on Friday night, and finished fifth on Saturday night.
Whatever is ailing his car, it’s likely Moran and his Double Down Motorsports team will get it figured out.
The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series begins its season with a test day at All-Tech Raceway on Wednesday, February 18th. Racing action begins on Thursday, February 19th and continues through Saturday, February 21st.
