Billy Hicks Racing announced that the team will part ways with the 2025 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Rookie of the Year Donald McIntosh.
In a post to Facebook, Billy Hicks Racing stated, “As the 2025 season comes to an end for the Billy Hicks Racing team, we’d like to thank Donald McIntosh for all of his hard work and dedication. We over came many obstacles and still were able to win O’reillys Rookie of the Year!”
“NEW news for 2026, both Billy Hicks Racing & Donald McIntosh Racing will be heading in different directions,” the team added. “May the new season bring us both success!”
McIntosh commented to FloRacing explaining the split, “It’s just been a long year. Billy’s done this a long time and we’ve done it a long time together. And it’s just, it’s time for a change. We’ve had a lot of fun and we’ve had success together. We won a couple Ray Cook series and were able to cap off on this. I’m proud to have done it with him and he’s a like a father figure to me really. It’s a step that I’m wanting to take and I’ve been blessed to do it. It’s just time for something else.
He went on to confirm he has not finalized plans for 2026, “No plans finalized. I’d really love to do this again, but just really trying to see. See what’s out there and what’s next for me.”
Along with becoming the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series’ Rookie of the Year, he finished 10th overall in the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series. In 44 features with the series he had 1 top 5 and 11 Top 10s. That top 5 came at Atomic Speedway on July 4th, where he finished 5th. His Top 10s came at a number of different tracks including All-Tech Raceway, Eagle Raceway, Lucas Oil Speedway, Florence Speedway, Huset’s Speedway, Batesville Motor Speedway, Knoxville Raceway, Pittsburgh Pennsylvania Motor Speedway and the aforementioned Atomic Speedway.
“I’m proud of that. It means a lot,” said McIntosh. “People don’t realize, until you’ve done it, how hard and grueling running this deal is. For the majority of the year, it was just me and (girlfriend) Shelby (Cooper) working on the race car, week in and week out. We also had Aaron (Latham) helping, too. I’m also proud the fact we’ve had two mechanical problems this year, which were out of our control.”
