Hendrick Motorsports announced that it signed William Byron to a four-year extension that will keep the driver behind the wheel of the No. 24 Chevrolet until 2029.

“We’ve built something special with the No. 24 team,” said Byron. “I’m thankful for the opportunity to continue working with amazing people at Hendrick Motorsports who believe in me, especially Mr. and Mrs. Hendrick. We’ve accomplished some great things that we’re really proud of, but we have even bigger goals ahead. I’m excited to go after them with this team and this organization.”

“William is the real deal,” said Rick Hendrick. “What makes him so special is that he combines natural ability with an unrivaled work ethic. You see it in the great ones – the drivers who could get by on talent alone but choose to outwork everyone anyway. That’s William. On top of it all, he’s a person of high character and embraces his role as a leader. We’re proud to have him in our lineup and look forward to many more wins together.”

Byron won Rookie of the Year when he entered the NASCAR Cup Series in 2018 at the age of 20. In his eight years in the NASCAR Cup Series he’s amassed 14 wins, 59 Top 5s, and 111 Top 10s. He’s sat on the pole 15 times and led 3,364 laps. His average finish over his career is 15th. However, in the last two seasons he brought that down with an average finish of 11th in 2023 and 12.9 in 2024. So far he’s had an average finish of 10.2 this year.

Byron has won the Daytona 500 twice and made the NASCAR Cup Series playoffs six consecutive times. He made the Championship 4 in both 2023 and 2024. He currently sits second in the NASCAR Cup Series point standings behind his teammate Kyle Larson.
