The Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series disqualified Zack Mitchell and his Coltman Farms Racing entry after he won at Southern Raceway on September 27th.

The news that Mitchell was disqualified by The Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series was made public by Coltman Farms Racing and owner Brett Coltman who shared on Facebook that one of Mitchell’s tires “didn’t conform to the established benchmark.”

He wrote on Facebook, “Yesterday, our team was notified that a tire used on the No. 57 car driven by Zack Mitchell during the event on Sept. 27 at Southern Raceway didn’t conform to the established benchmark. We are disappointed yet motivated to find out how and why this happened. Two of our core beliefs when it comes to racing is integrity and transparency, so I’m sure you will understand our disbelief and confusion.”

Additionally, he added that neither Mitchell nor his team did anything wrong, “We totally deny any wrongdoing. We would much rather finish last in a race than do something as appalling as this. Our reputation is everything. We are concerned as well with the optics of this situation.”

Coltman concluded, “At Coltman Farms Racing, we pride ourselves in doing the right thing. We have an unwavering commitment to comply with all series rules. We will keep you updated in our efforts to resolve this issue. In the meantime, we ask that our fans, opponents and racing partners know that the Coltman Farms family will never take the low road to win a race. We are built on honesty and integrity.”

The team is now 104 points behind current leader Jimmy Owens. Before being disqualified he had closed the gap to just 2 points heading into this weekends Blue-Gray 100.

Of note Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series did recently issue a reminder about its tire rule heading into this weekends races for the Blue-Gray 100 at Cherokee Speedway. The series stated:

The following tire rule will be in effect for this weekend’s Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series Championship Weekend at Cherokee Speedway’s 35th Annual Blue-Gray 100:

Approved Compounds:
Fronts: Hoosier NLMT 2, 2.5, or 3
Left Rear: Hoosier NLMT 2.5 or 3
Right Rear: Hoosier NLMT 3 or 4
This is the same tire rule the series has used since July, which was announced as the rule for the remainder of the 2025 season. Please note that a press release previously published with event details for this race mistakenly omitted the 2.5 as an option on the left rear. The above rule is correct and will be used this weekend.
