James Turnbull and Kevin Thomas Jr. dropped expletives against Justin Grant after both were involved in wrecks with wrecks during the Western World Championships at Central Arizona Raceway.

For Turnbull, at the beginning of the heat race Grant slid up in front of him into the outside lane heading into turn 1. The two appeared to get hooked together and slammed into the outside wall. Grant was fortunate and bounced off the wall and was able to continue. However, Turnbull violently flipped and began pirouetting through the air and into the catch fence before crashing down into the middle of the track.

After exiting his car Turnbull spoke to FloRacing’s Drake York, “Plain and simple Justin Grant’s a (expletive) idiot. He likes to lane change on a (expletive) restart. Didn’t get the (expletive) preferred start down the front straightaway, lane changes me, I have no where to go. I’m on the brakes. And, you know, we’re going so fast here off of a restart even. I mean it’s slick down the front straightaway. He expects he can own the whole (expletive) race track. I have nowhere to go. I’m on the brakes  and I hit the (expletive) wall. Nowhere else to go.”

“It’s truly unfortunate. We had a great year this year and I thought we were building on some great speed. Unfortunately, this thing’s (expletive) junk. Got to hit it hard. Go back to Indiana with our tail in-between our legs and get ready for next year.”

As noted above, Turnbull would not be the only one to express frustration with Grant during the night. During the feature race, Kevin Thomas Jr. had words with Grant after he was involved in a wreck that saw him make contact with Grant and then spin through the air before being struck by Daison Pursley.

Thomas told FloRacing after the wreck, “I just told him him just kind of what everyone else has said. He just lane changes everywhere he goes. He’s crashed a lot. His eyes are all (expletive) up. He can’t see anyways. You know, it kind of is what it is. We had a good racecar and another four car, another incident. If he just changed lanes in an appropriate amount of time, that’s okay. Taking hard lefts, hard rights, I mean what do you do? It’s bound to happen. He makes it a habit every single week. He’s one of my buddies, but (expletive) him after that.”

Granted ended up finishing in 7th during the feature. Logan Seavey won with Kyle Cummins, C.J. Leary, and Ricky Thornton Jr. finishing second, third, and fourth and locking themselves into the feature for tonight.
