Jason Welshan, a part-time dirt late model driver who races around Tennessee, Hunt the Front’s Jonathan Joiner, and Schaeffer’s Oil Spring Nationals Series Champion Garrett Smith shared their reactions to Tyler Erb’s slide job on Jonathan Davenport that ended Davenport’s heat race on the first lap.

Terbo and Davenport both started on the front row of the race and the two began leaning on each other as the green flog dropped and continued to beat and bang down the front stretch. Davenport did not take too kindly to it and drove up in to Terbo right before they went into turn 1.

Davenport then slid Terbo coming out of 2. Terbo attempted the crossover with a slider going through 3. Davenport appeared to angle his car downward to try to thwart the slider or maybe the bumps in the track helped him, but regardless it led to Terbo going up and over his entire hood and his left rear smashed down on Davenport’s right front fender. The two then slid up to the wall together. Terbo was able to get away while Davenport came to a stop exiting turn 4.

Welshan shared his opinion in a post to Facebook writing, “100 I AM WAITING ON HIM. HE NOR ME WOULD FINISH THIS HEAT.”

Garrett Smith also shared his thoughts in the comments. David Michael Clark posited, “I think if JD car didn’t bounce in them holes it would have been clear.”

Smith replied, “i think so too. 100 percent still on T though. He just wasn’t willing to lift on that start.”

Hunt the Front’s Jonathan Joiner shared his own opinion in a post writing, “I get that no one wants judgement calls in Dirt Late Model racing, but at some point a driver has to be held accountable for having zero respect for the cars around him.”
