Vic Hill shared at the end of last month that Jimmy Owens will compete in his CVR Chassis this year.

On February 26th, Hill posted a video to Facebook captioning it, “Ok this might clear things up on who is driving my CVR car 1st this year.”

At the end of the video it showcases Jimmy Owens and then confirms he’ll be piloting the car with a banner graphic at the end of it.

In a subsequent post, Hill shared photos of Owens working with him on the car.

He then shared a mockup of what the car will look like.

Owens will make his debut in the car when the World of Outlaws Late Model Series rolls in to Volunteer Speedway later this month on March 13th.

It’s also highly likely that Owens will be back in the car a month later when Volunteer Speedway puts on its week long The Gauntlet at the Gap event.

The Gauntlet at the Gap will take place at Volunteer Speedway in Bulls Gap, Tennessee. The inaugural event begins on Tuesday, April 14 and will continue through the week and conclude on April 18th. It will take Thursday, April 16th off.

The prize money increases with each night. It starts at $7,500 to-win on April 14th. On the 15th it increases to $10,000. It doubles to $20,000 on Friday the 17th. The finale on the 18th will pay $30,000 to the winner. Additionally, there is an extra $100,000 up for grabs for anyone who can win one of the preliminary nights and also win the finale on Saturday.

It is unclear when or if Owens will compete in his Koehler Motorsports. Team owner Bobby Koehler previously shared with FloRacing’s Kevin Kovac that Owens still had Koehler-owned equipment at his shop in Tennessee and he had budgeted for him to “spot race” or pick-and-choose throughout 2026.

Owens responded to the report noting that he and his team were “still trying to finalize plans for 2026, but hopefully you’ll see the “Newport Nightmare” at the track again soon. If you are interested in supporting #Team20 in any way, we are actively seeking additional partners and product support for this season and beyond.”
