Owens previously competed in the Big Frog car in June at East Alabama Motor Speedway. He finished second after starting 10th in the unsanctioned $10k to win race.

As noted in Big Frog Motorsports’ Facebook post, the Southern Nationals series kicks off on Friday, July 11th at Beckley Motor Speedway. On Saturday, July 12th it heads to Wythe Raceway. The series takes Sunday off before heading to the exciting Volunteer Speedway on Monday, July 14th. It continues at I-75 on Tuesday, July 15th. Next, it heads to Senoia Raceway on Thursday, July 17th and then on to Swainsboro on July 18th. On Saturday July 19th, it stops at Screven Motor Speedway.

Owens and his Koehler Motorsports team are currently the point leaders and he extended his lead to 32 points over Cory Hedgecock after winning at Senoia this past weekend. The series is back in action at Duck River Raceway Park for two nights beginning on August 1st for the Deep Fried 75.
