Jonathan Davenport did not have a lot of kind words for Tyler Erb after he his car was damaged after a lap one slider by Tyler Erb during the first heat race at the Wild West Shootout.
Terbo and Davenport both started on the front row of the race and the two began leaning on each other as the green flog dropped and continued to beat and bang down the front stretch. Davenport did not take too kindly to it and drove up in to Terbo right before they went into turn 1.
Davenport then slid Terbo coming out of 2. Terbo attempted the crossover with a slider going through 3. Davenport appeared to angle his car downward to try to thwart the slider or maybe the bumps in the track helped him, but regardless it led to Terbo going up and over his entire hood and his left rear smashed down on Davenport’s right front fender. The two then slid up to the wall together. Terbo was able to get away while Davenport came to a stop exiting turn 4.

After driving his way from last to fourth in a B-Main to get into the feature, he then went from the last row and 23rd on the grid to finish in second. He spoke to FloRacing’s Trenton Berry during his second place podium interview and told him, “Thanks to my guys, once again, for not ever giving up on me. They had to do a whole lot extra work today because of a retard.”
He was then specifically asked about what he thought about the move. Davenport replied, “I don’t know. Just he’s hit-. Everybody’s that started on the outside pole in a heat race, he’s hit him. He doesn’t think he does anything wrong. That’s the issue. If he could ever learn from his mistakes we could move on and, hell, we’d be friends, I’m sure. But he just won’t ever learn from his mistakes.”
“Everybody seen what happened and they can go watch the video over and over again. Whatever, it don’t matter. I know I’m going to have race with him some more. Just going to have to drive everybody else like they drive me,” he concluded.

Davenport issued an apology after he described Erb as a “retard.” He wrote on X, “4 all the sensitive folks I apologize for using the R word tonight in my interview at the time with the adrenaline still pumping I couldn’t think of a better adjective. #JD’sIroningService”

Terbo told FloRacing’s Trenton Berry after he won the heat race, “[Jonathan Davenport] got a little excited and [expletive] with me getting down the front straightaway here. All I’ve heard about all week is these starts and one car crowded. I started at the fence and I let him slide me and crossed him over. And he had two choices and he picked the choice that created the most work for him and not the best result.”
“Excited about tonight. I feel really good about it. You know, it’s a long ways out here to stay for two weeks and have nothing to show for it so just put a good feature together here and have a lot of fun.”
