Jonathan Davenport stirred the rumor mill in a post to social media earlier today claiming he plans to “visit many new tracks for 2026.”
Davenport shared to X, “First flight of the year. Headed to hopefully the first of many new tracks for 2026 at Central Arizona Speedway [for] Wild West Shootout.”
“Excited for the new look new sponsor but the same speed we had @ the end of the year,” he concluded.

In response to this, FloRacing’s Vice President of Motorsports Michael Rigsby reacted with a gif describing the post as bait. FloRacing is now the owner of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series.

Seemingly after arriving in Arizona, Davenport doubled down while also teasing his new wrap, “Got to thinking on the flight might even introduce this ol girl to some places I haven’t been to in a while.”

The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series only added two new tracks to its schedule for 2026 in BAPS Motor Speedway in York Haven, Pennsylvania and Adams County Speedway in Corning, Iowa.
Additionally, Davenport announced at the end of last year that he was bringing on a new primary sponsor in Ace Doran Hauling and Rigging. After this news was shared to social media by FloRacing’s Kyle McFadden who speculated that this was Davenport’s big announcement that he had teased during the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series end of year banquet, Davenport replied, “There’s more……….”

Following that a number of rumors indicated that Davenport would not compete full time with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series in 2026. Earlier this week Justin Fiedler at Dirtracker shared on his daily show that Davenport might make a schedule change this year. He said, “He’s been a series regular with Lucas for the past three seasons, but that could be coming to an end. A pick-and-choose schedule seems most likely, but it sounds like there’s at least been some contact between the team and the World of Outlaws Late Model Series about a potential flip.”
Dirt late model insider Racin’ Jason also shared on the first episode of Rippin’ the Lip for the new year that Davenport would join the Outlaws, “Don’t be surprised when Lucas is at All-Tech, I think [Jonathan Davenport] is going south. That’s all I’m going to say.”

He had previously shared with StockCarReport.com during the World Finals at The Dirt Track at Charlotte that Davenport would run with the Outlaws, but noted at the time “that’s not carved in stone yet.”
Davenport ran with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series the past three seasons. He finished third this past year behind Devin Moran and Ricky Thornton Jr., but had a whale of a battle between himself and Thornton for the top spot before the series went into its playoff format.
In 2024, he finished third behind Thornton and Moran. In 2023, the first and only year the series did its winner-take-all format at Eldora for the championship, he finished fourth. He won Lucas Oil championships in 2015, 2018, and 2019.
Davenport has never competed in a full season with the World of Outlaws despite winning 17 features with the series, which is good for 15th on the series’ all-time wins list. He had three World of Outlaws wins this past year at I-55 and two at the World Finals.
If Davenport does make the jump to the World of Outlaws, he’ll join Drake Troutman, Eli Johnson, Cody Overton, Ryan Gustin, Trey Mills, Tristan Chamberlain, Jake Timm, Dennis Erb Jr., Nick Hoffman, Bobby Pierce, Tim McCreadie, Tyler Erb, and Logan Zarin who have officially committed to the series.
