Jonathan Davenport announced he will run in both the National 100 and the World Finals with K&L Rumley Enterprises, but remains committed to the Double L #49 for the foreseeable future.

In a press release shared to his Facebook page, it shared, “Jonathan Davenport is excited to announce tonight that he will pilot a K&L Rumley Enterprises #6 car in a pair of late-season special events. The potent pairing will reunite for the first time on November 2-3 in the 50th edition of the National 100 at East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, Alabama. The XR Super Series will preside over the storied race at EAMS, which will shell out a $10,000 top prize on that Saturday and a $30,000 winner’s check in Sunday’s finale.”

“From there, Jonathan and the K&L Rumley Enterprises team will venture to the pristine Dirt Track at Charlotte in Concord, North Carolina from November 6-9 for the annual running of the World Finals. After the qualifying sessions on that Wednesday, a pair of $15,000 to win programs will take place at the Charlotte-area venue on Thursday and Friday. The World of Outlaws Late Model Series grand finale on Saturday evening will boast a $25,000 first place prize,” it continued.

Davenport shared that these two events will allow him to test out a number of things with Rumley and his Longhorn team, “This sport is so competitive and every hundredth of a second matters. For me to be able to go test some things with Kevin Rumley at East Alabama and Charlotte is invaluable and will hopefully give us a leg up heading into 2025.”

He also nipped any kind of rumors in the bud before they got started declaring, “First off before any rumors get started, I plan on being the driver of the Double L Motorsports #49 for as long as Lance Landers and his family will have me.”

He added, “I have to thank all of my guys for a tremendous 2024 season and I’m thankful that Lance & Darla (Landers) have allowed me to go have some fun with the Rumley’s for a few weekends. I will be back in the #49 to close out our season in December at the Dome for the Gateway Dirt Nationals.”

The announcement comes after a disappointing end to his bid for a Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Championship. Davenport went in to the Dirt Track World Championship tied in second in points, 50 behind Ricky Thornton Jr.

For much of the race, Davenport was a front runner swapping the lead with Tim McCreadie several times and duking it out with Josh Rice in the top three. However, a blown motor just 64 laps in saw all his hopes erased and he was forced to settle for an 18th place finish.

With Devin Moran finishing in fourth and Ricky Thornton Jr. in third, Davenport was relegated to third in the points standings, 130 behind eventual champion Ricky Thornton Jr.

Davenport said after the race, “We don’t really know exactly what it was. It was either a rod bolt or a crank broke. As soon as we took the lead, obviously there, we went turn 1, let off the gas, and it shook really bad. First, I thought it was a drive shaft, but I went back to the gas just for a split second and then knew exactly what it was.”

When asked what his biggest takeaway was, he replied, “Just another building year for us, really. Me and Corey’s been together two years now. Me and Lance’s been together for almost 7. So me and Lance got a good relationship going and hope to just carry that on for many more years. We’re just happy we did this.”

Davenport also shared that his sponsor talked him in to running Lucas Oil this year after originally not planning to run the series, “Steve Martin from Nutrien Ag talked us in to running the series one more time. We wasn’t going to do it this year, I guess thank him for that. But that’s just the way it goes sometimes. We’ll just move on from this and we’ll see what happens next year.”
