“The Mad Man” Kerry Madsen announced he’ll team with Vermeer Motorsports for the 2026 season as they look to compete in either the High Limit Racing series or the World of Outlaws.

Madsen made the announcement in an interview with FloRacing’s Kyle McFadden at The Dirt Track at Charlotte on Saturday during the World Finals. He said, “We’ll be with the Vermeer No. 55. Not 100 percent sure on the details yet, but looks like it’s shaping up to be a great team.”

“We’ll definitely be on a national series,” he added. Madsen will be paired with Tye Wolfgang as his crew chief. Wolfgang won the 2023 World of Outlaws title and the 2024 High Limit title with Brad Sweet and Kasey Kahne Racing.

He will replace Hunter Schuerenberg who drove the team’s No. 55 with the World of Outlaws and eventually finished 11th in points.

Madsen raced the second half of the 2025 season with Tony Stewart Racing replacing Donny Schatz. “It was a dream job driving for TSR. Really (had) fun with the team and enjoyed my time here,” he said. “We didn’t have the consistency we wanted, we wanted to have more great runs. Just getting a late start at the end of the season, lots of different parts and pieces. Had some really good runs.”

Madsen put together a couple of top 10s right out of the gate with Tony Stewart Racing finishing 10th at Ogilvie Raceway and 7th at Mississippi Thunder Speedway. He got his first top five at Vado Speedway Park with a 3rd place finish. The team struggled starting at the end of September and continued into October. Their best finish from September 26th to October 15th was 16th at both Sharon Speedway and Lincoln Speedway. He did nab a 9th place finish on the 17th of October at Lincoln Park Speedway. He closed out the season with a 16th, 14th, and 13th at World Finals.

While sprint car racing is winding down here stateside, Madsen will return to his native Australia to compete down under. “We’re gonna get some races in, but the main part of the season won’t start ’til around Christmas down there,” Madsen said.

One of the big races he’ll be competing in down there will be the Kubota High Limit Racing’s International event at Perth Motorplex that takes place just after Christmas from December 28-30th. Madsen will be racing with Diamond Bay Motorsports Down Under.
