Kyle Bronson was not happy with Brenden Smith and roughed him up and cussed him out after he was fenced in the Friday night A-Main during the Gateway Dirt Nationals.
Following a restart with 12 laps to go, Smith was able to sneak by Bronson exiting turn 2. Bronson crossed him over heading into turn 3 and put Smith up into the wall. Smith did not take too kindly to it and drove his car into Bronson’s right rear. But he was not done there. He threw a slider heading into turn 1 and put his right rear on Bronson’s left front and put him straight into the fence ending Bronson’s night.

Bronson exited his car and marched down the track where Smith had come to a stop. While on his way to Smith’s car was asked by FloRacing’s Blake Anderson about what happened. Bronson replied, “A [expletive] straight purebred. He needs his ass whooped. His daddy didn’t do it enough.”
As he marched towards Smith’s car he began gesturing to him to exit his car so he could confront him person. Smith did not exit his car and when Bronson got there he gave him a couple of tugs on his helmet and told him, “You’re lucky I like your daddy or I’d whip your [expletive] little ass.”
Next, he told FloRacing’s Chris Moore, “Man, this dumb [expletive] gonna happen at this place [the way] it’s laid out, but that’s why we love coming here. I wanted to punch the little kid’s head, but he ain’t going to fight so I ain’t going to make myself like a damn idiot. You know just going to keep coming back. And like I said I’m like one of them old dogs. When somebody gives me back 5 pounds, I’m going to give them back 10. I promise you.”
“I needed that to fire my ass up and get back going here and looking forward to the next one. We’ve got a long season ahead of us,” he concluded. After being asked if he and Hudson O’Neal wanted to wrestle, Bronson lifted O’Neal up and gave him a spin before putting him down.
Bronson then added, “I just feel terrible for my guys there. Kale Green Motorsports and Jesse and all my guys that help me, put this whole deal together for me. It’s a damn good race car to bring here and just to get ended like that it’s a tough deal. I’m very appreciative of the opportunity and hopefully I get another opportunity for next year.”

After finishing in third, Smith shared his perspective during his podium interview, “I like Kyle. Me and him are buddies. I don’t know if he’s gonna feel that way after that deal. But I feel like that’s kind of how you have to race here. I feel like we were both were kinda trading back and forth doing the same type of deal. So really honestly it’s kinda just how this deal is. I hate that he got the short end of it. It’s just part of it, I guess.”
