Landon Huffman called for the CARS to penalize Justin S. Carroll for his actions during the race race at Langley on Saturday.

Huffman and Carroll were racing each other hard for 9th spot with 16 laps to go. Huffman was able to work to the inside of Carroll, but was unable to work past him and with the laps ticking down, he began to use his bumper to try and push Carroll further up the track. Meanwhile, Carroll was not gonna let Huffman just drive past him and he did his best to squeeze him down and keep Huffman pinned down. However, Huffman prevailed and was able to clear him with 12 laps to go.

While they were battling, Ronnie Bassett Jr. was able to track both of them down and he got to the inside of Carroll with 11 to go. Immediately after clearing Carroll, he gave the bumper to Huffman, who did a great job of holding on to it, but would cede the position to Bassett. Carroll would fill the gap and door Huffman while also putting the bumper to Bassett. Carroll would then check up in order to allow Bassett to save his car. However, Huffman had tucked in behind him and gave him the bumper down the straightaway. The contact sent Carroll spinning and he barely missed the inside pit wall.

Huffman would be penalized and sent to the back of the pack with Carroll. On the ensuing restart with just 5 laps to go, Carroll retaliated against Huffman and sent him spinning. Unfortunately, FloRacing did not provide a replay, but CARS Tour announcer Eric Brennan said, “Landon Huffman gets turned by Justin Carroll after they played bumper tag for about three laps and Carroll finally finished the job in a retaliatory effort.”

Huffman would share video of the contact to social media between the two. Carroll can be seen making contact with Huffman’s bumper multiple times before he eventually spun him out.

Speaking about the run-ins with Carroll, Huffman told Matt Weaver, “I only know one Justin Carroll that’s the one that owns my race car. The other guy runs in the back about everywhere he goes. Just dumb.”

“I mean I run around him there 8th, or 9th, 10th, wherever we were. We weren’t good,” Huffman said. “We struggled really badly in the race. Bad tight. Ran 7th to 12th all night. And he was racing hard and I was under him for probably — felt like 25 laps — probably 5 to 10 laps just racing him side-by-side. I was being real patient with him, you know, trying to take my time. He kept crowding me on entry and I just got a little more aggressive. For me, I’m not very aggressive when it comes to passing people like that. I don’t like running into people. I never have. So I tried to race him and race him that way. And then finally I just got into him a little bit, very little, got him up the track a little, cleared him. As soon as I cleared him he drove into the fuel cell on me down here and had me all jacked up down the back stretch. And like drove over there to the bar and ran me way up the racetrack.”

“And then trying to get back to him, got into him, and then him and [Bassett] checked up,” he continued. “I didn’t mean to spin him out. I was just trying to get back to him, try to cross him back over. Give him back what he gave me down here and he spun out.”

As for Carroll spinning him out with 5 laps to go, he said, “After that that was just ridiculous. I mean trying to drive over his head every lap to take us out. And then intentionally wrecks us. To me the tour should do something about that, but it really doesn’t matter because he doesn’t run weekly.”

Carroll shared his perspective with Weaver as well. He said, “We had a clean race going. He was trying to pass me on the inside, couldn’t get by me, and it’s hard to pass here on the inside, I know if someone’s pinning you down. He starts washing me up, washing me up, washing me up. Next thing you know I’m in the third groove and he still can’t get by me. Then I guess Ronnie Bassett passed him. They got together, something happened there. I seen the opportunity so I just dove down in there and did the same thing to him, just doored him a little bit and then we come off four and he just hooks me. I mean it’s one thing to lift me, but he never let me go and just turned me around on the straightaway. You know, turning someone on the straightaway is really dirty.

“So I’m just tired of getting pushed around. He’s in it for points. I’m out here just for one race. So he had a lot more to lose than me. I feel like he did me dirty so I just returned the favor,” he concluded.
