The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series announced that it postponed its Thursday night program at Lernerville Speedway to kick off the 19th Annual Firecracker 100 due to “heavy rain showers on top of an already saturated” track.

The Thursday night program is postponed to tomorrow, where hot laps are planned to start at 5:00 PM ET. However, it won’t be a typical program. As originally planned, drivers will be split into two groups based on pill draw. They will hot and then qualify with the top 18 qualifiers locking themselves into the feature. There will be no heat races. There will be B-Mains that will take place after the RUSH Dirt Late Model Series hot laps and the National Anthem and Invocation. The top 6 from the B-Mains will advance.
Following the completion of the B-Mains, the Rush Dirt Late Models will qualify. Then there will be two 25-lap A-Main features for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series.
After this rescheduled Thursday night program concludes, the track will clear the grandstands and begin its Friday night program where a Friday night ticket is required. The Friday night program will be run the same as the rescheduled Thursday night program albeit instead of RUSH Hot Laps taking place between qualifying and the B-Mains, there will be RUSH heat races. There will also be a RUSH Dash that takes place following the Lucas Oil B-Mains. The two Lucas Oil features will conclude the night after the RUSH Dash.
The Saturday night program is expected to continue as previously scheduled with drivers collecting combined points from the Thursday and Friday night programs to determine their heat race starting positions. Following the heat races there will be B-Mains, and then the $50,000 to-win 19th Annual Firecracker 100.
Last year, Ricky Thornton Jr. smoked the entire field with only 8 cars left on the lead lap. He had gapped second place finisher Devin Moran by 12.5 seconds. Given his dominance last year, Thornton is favorite heading into this weekend albeit he’s with Koehler Motorsports this year instead of SSI Motorsports
