During the most recent episode of his podcast, On The Mark, Martin blasted Ross Chastain and Austin Dillon for having “low integrity” for refusing to pass William Byron and thus ensuring he would lock himself into the Championship 4 and race for the Championship at Phoenix.

“So you’re telling me that Chastain and Dillon are getting so much from Chevrolet that they are going to quit racing at the end of the race to help another Chevrolet? That has to be one thing and it’s low integrity. That has to be,” Martin said.

After excoriating Chastain and Dillon, Martin moved on to Bubba Wallace. He said, “They said it on the radio. Not only do you think, ‘Nah. He didn’t have a flat tire,’ number one. Number two, officials should have been over there gauging those tires as soon as he came in. Number three, they said it on the radio. Even Bubba comes on the radio and says, ‘God forbid we don’t help-.’ It almost sounded to me like Bubba was pissed about having to give up spots. And he wasn’t told to give up spots. He was told what had to happen for Bell to get in, which is get by you. And so it happened.”

When asked if Wallace’s actions were quantified as “race manipulation,” Martin replied, “Yes, in my book it does. I think it does.”

A clip of Bubba Wallace’s in-car camera synced up to his radio shows Wallace saying, “God forbid if we don’t help a f***ing JGR car.”

However, it’s unclear when this comment took place as the clip is edited. It appears to have been from earlier in the race.

Following the edit, Wallace’s team does give him instructions on where Bell is running and how far ahead he is of him. With 3 laps to go, Wallace then radios, “I think I got a tire going down.”

Martin then went into detail on why he believes this is happening, “Now, we have in NASCAR the same exact problem and it reminds me exactly of our government. You got money, you got corruption everywhere you look on all sides. And not all corruption, some of it is just influence. You have big money donors. You have Big Pharma, for example. Well here, we’ve got manufacturers. We’ve got all these different special interest groups in people’s ears and you can’t stop it now. Pandora’s box is open.”

“How this started? It started early 2000s when everybody decided that it would be a good idea in the Ford camp if we pitted together. So we didn’t say that we wouldn’t run with someone else to try to win the race. But we said, ‘Look, when it comes for pit stops, when it comes time for gas we’re all going to come-. Let’s come at so-and-so lap.’ Then if you were a car that had great gas mileage and you could stretch it two or three more laps, you did because if you did that the next time too, you could leave out a pit stop. In other words it would help you to not be involved. But everybody who had nothing to lose could stick together and come out of the pits and draft together. That’s where this all started,” he said.

He went on to state, “Now, if Chevrolet or Ford never says a word to their teams they still think they are supposed to do this. So you can’t fix that.”
