Matt Tifft and Mansfield Speedway made a huge announcement for the track’s first season back in action, the World of Outlaws will be competing there for two nights with a $57,000 to-win Saturday night feature at the end of May.
Tifft shared the announcement on Facebook revealing the event is titled 57 Special. He also said, “The best drivers in the country, coming to the biggest track renovation in the country! Huge payouts with some of the biggest starting money in late model competition. We can’t wait to see you there!!”
He added, “Pre sale tickets, full payouts, camping, and more will be available soon.”
On a poster released alongside the announcement, the track revealed that the track will pay out over $293,000 over May 29th and 30th. On Friday, May 29th, the Outlaws will compete for a $12,000 to win feature with $1,000 just to start.
On Saturday night, drivers will race for $57,000 to-win and $5,700 just to start.
Additionally, the plan is to host UMP Modifieds as a support class. Their Friday night feature will be a $1,000 to-win race while the Saturday night feature will be a $2,000 to-win race.
Mansfield Speedway originally opened in 1959 and was a 3/8-mile dirt oval. It was paved over in April 1999, but reverted back to dirt in 2017. The track hosted the NASCAR Truck Series, the Lucas Oil Dirt Late Models as well as NASCAR’s K&N Series, the Whelen Modified Tour, and the All Star Circuit of Champions sprint car series.
The track announced back at the beginning of the month that it planned to reopen on May 2nd with late models, FAST Sprint Cars and UMP Modifieds. So the World of Outlaws race will happen just a month after the track reopens.
