New River All American Speedway announced it has closed its doors.
In a post to Facebook the track stated, “New River All American Speedway held its first race July 31, 2021. It’s been a wild ride. Memories & friendships made that we will never forget.”
“Over the last several weeks & months we’ve had many discussions about the future of New River. Yesterday, we made the tough decision to close the doors,” the track added. “For those of you who supported New River, thank you will never be enough.”
The track was originally opened in 1999 as Coastal Plains Speedway and held races until 2015 where it closed until 2018. However, it would close again before making a return in 2021 where it was renamed Goodyear All American Speedway after being leased by Anthony and Tonya Goodyear. It would then be changed to New River All American Speedway in 2022.
The track had become a perennial spot for the CARS Tour. It hosted its first CARS Late Model Stock Tour race in 2022 with Connor Hall taking home the win. Brenden “Butterbean” Queen won in 2023 with Bobby McCarty winning in 2024. Hall would become the first repeat winner at the track back on March 1st of this year.
The SMART Modified Tour made its first stop to the track in 2024 with Ryan Newman capturing the checkered flag. The tour was planning to race at the track on August 29th as the first part of a SMART Beach Trip doubleheader alongside Carteret County Speedway on August 30th. No word on whether the race will be rescheduled to a different location or canceled outright.
