A video uploaded to YouTube by Ryan Horacek shows the confrontation between Tyler Erb and Jonathan Davenport in the pits after the two were involved in a lap one incident in the first heat race on Sunday night at the Wild West Shootout.
Early in the video, Terbo can be heard questioning why Davenport hit his door at the beginning of the race. The two then began trying to each tell their own side of the story. However, Terbo was quickly over it and informed Davenport to get his car out of the way because he wanted to work.
When Davenport indicated he had no intention of moving, Terbo appeared as if he was going to go and push Davenport’s car out of the way himself. However, Davenport blocked him and Terbo repeatedly told him to move the car albeit with some coarse language.
After Terbo returned to his car he exchanged words with another gentleman who appeared to try to show him the replay of the incident. After they were quickly separated, Davenprot confronted Terbo again and the two had a disagreement regarding the contact at the beginning of the race on the front stretch.
Officials then showed up and both Davenport and Terbo pleaded their cases with them. After the officials slightly stepped aside the two again shared their perspectives with each other. Terbo declared, “At no point when I woke up today i said, ‘I’m gonna [expletive] JD.” He then appeared to indicate that he believes Davenport thinks he’s above everybody else. He then concluded by reiterating his call to remove Davenport’s car.
Davenport and his team eventually moved his and Terbo pushed his back up to his hauler.
As referenced above, the confrontation happened after Davenport and Terbo were involved in an incident on the first lap of their heat race. The two started on the front row and began leaning on each other as the green flag dropped and continued to beat and bang down the front stretch. Davenport did not take too kindly to it and drove up in to Terbo right before they went into turn 1.
Davenport then slid Terbo coming out of 2. Terbo attempted the crossover with a slider going through 3. Davenport appeared to angle his car downward to try to thwart the slider or maybe the bumps in the track helped him, but regardless it led to Terbo going up and over his entire hood and his left rear smashed down on Davenport’s right front fender. The two then slid up to the wall together. Terbo was able to get away while Davenport came to a stop exiting turn 4.
