Nick Hoffman provided an additional statement following the huge wreck at Deer Creek that collected many of the top competitors in the opening laps of the race on Friday night.

On a restart on lap 3, Hoffman got to the inside of Tyler Bruening coming out of turn 2, but Bruening got a good run out of the corner and was able to pull ahead of him down the back stretch. Hoffman then threw a slider at Bruening as they went into turn 3, Bruening appeared as if he was ready to cross him over coming out of turn 4, but was never able to accomplish it as Hoffman slid up and across his nose. The contact turned Bruening’s car sideways across the track and he collected many of the cars that were right behind him including Tim McCreadie, Bobby Pierce, Ethan Dotson, Chad Simpson, Jake O’Neill, Dustin Sorsenson, Tristan Chamberlain, Jake Timm, and Aaron Marrant.

Hoffman went on to win the race and told DirtVision’s Ashton Smyth in victory lane, ”

There ain’t much I can do to plead my case in this situation. So there ain’t much I can say. I just hate it for all the other guys that got tore up there. It really sucks. I’ll do whatever I can to make it better as far as help them guys try and fix their stuff up or whatever.”

Speaking specifically to slider, he said, “Yeah, that was a big slider there. I felt like it was a pretty late slider and felt like he could have lifted. But just one of those deals that he was turned down the hill to probably try and cross me and as soon as he got up underneath me it just turns you around like that in front of everybody. So it sucks. You don’t want to win them this way. This is probably the worst way to win them.”

“Our race car was good. Probably should have been a little more patient obviously,” he continued. “Obviously, Bobby [Pierce] goes from 6th to 3rd there right away and you line up beside him and felt like I got a good restart just had to throw a pretty big bomb there. It can go both ways. So I don’t know if anybody’s going to be on my side on this side. But just the way it goes.”

In a post to Facebook, Hoffman shared more comments. He wrote, “Social media has its ups and downs for racing. I see all the comments. Most that are mad have never raced.”

“I really do hate that other guys were involved. I work on my own stuff so I would be pissed too. I went down to talk to a few of them and they all seen the same thing I did,” he continued. “Late model racing is aggressive and you have to take the opportunities when they are infront of you. I posted a couple screen shots to show that he should have seen a slider coming for quite a ways through the corner and then he was way to sideways when I got to the middle of the track. Also there was plenty of room above me.”

“We were able to get our 4th win of the year. Thanks to all my guys and the boys back at the shop,” he concluded.

With the win, Hoffman narrowed Bobby Pierce’s points lead down to just 50 points.

The World of Outlaws Late Models are back in action at Sharon Speedway this upcoming weekend for the Battle at the Border. Racing action will take place on both Friday and Saturday nights. Hot laps are expected to begin at 6:30 PM ET on both nights.
