Nick Hoffman shared that he’s petitioned Gateway Dirt Nationals promoter Cody Sommer to have the event turn off the big screen while the race is racing under green or at the very least not show the actual race.

Hoffman wrote on X, “Petition to change the big screens inside the dome to just display sponsors during green flag.”

“So many times the big screen changes the outcome of a race,” he explained. “We seen it at Chili Bowl for so many years and the Dome has been no different. It’s so easy for us to watch the screen every straightaway.”

“Fans inside the building aren’t watching the screen during green. If they are it’s because they are too drunk to watch the car go around the track and they might fall over,” Hoffman elaborated.

Additionally, he shared that he spoke to Sommer about it, “I talked to Cody about it last night. I knew it wasn’t something that could change over night but I feel like in the future it’s something to work towards.”

“Don’t take this tweet as I am [expletive]. I just want to see the best possible product inside the dome for the fans,” he concluded.

To Hoffman’s point, Dustin Linville admitted he was using the screen to keep Jason Feger behind him in his heat race last night. He said, “Back to Feger, he raced me good. I seen him up on the screen jumping up top. I didn’t feel real good up there, but we’ll go back and work on this thing and see what we can do.”

Chris Simpson also mentioned the video board in his Heat 3 win interview, “I felt like if anyone tried to make a run on me in the middle, I couldn’t watch the board. I think I had too many Busch Lights last night. I’m a little slow.”

After winning the modified feature, Ricky Thornton Jr. made it very clear that he used the board to keep track of the race around him, “I can kind of watch the board there. Just kind of biding my time, biding my time. Started searching around a little bit in one and two. And then I saw Dallon [Murty] get up next to me and I was like, ‘All right, I better step it up a little bit.’ I felt like I was trying to run as hard as I could to not catch the lap cars. They were kind of running three-wide in front of me, which told me the track was really good, but it was hard to get past them.”
