James Essex’s Northern Allstar Series opener at Brownstown Speedway for the Ira Bastin Memorial has been postponed due to rain.
In a press release, the series shared, “With heavy rainfall over the last two weeks creating saturated grounds officials of the Brownstown (IN) Speedway and the Northern Allstars Series have postponed this Saturday’s 4th Annual Ira Bastin Memorial to a later date to be announced.”
With the race being postponed, the series’ next event will be the 50th Annual Spring 50 on Saturday, March 21 at Florence Speedway in Union, Kentucky. The late models will compete for $10,000 to-win.
Additionally, the race will feature a “Dash for Cash” in memory of John Weber. It will pay $2,000 to all the heat race winners. Weber was the former co-owner of Florence Speedway. He passed at last July at the age of 82. Not only was he the track’s former co-owner, but he also owned car that were raced by the likes of Chuck McWilliams, Jason Jameson, and Darrell Lanigan.
As for Brownstown, next up for the track is the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series and the 29th Annual Indiana Icebreaker that will pay $25,000 to the winner on Saturday March 28th.
