A new report states that Ethan Dotson and his ASD Motorsports team will drop out of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series opener at All-Tech Raceway tonight.

FloRacing’s Kyle McFadden reports that Dotson “hurt an engine at last night’s Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series practice & loaded up for Hendry County’s doubleheader [World of Outlaws] weekend on Friday-Saturday.”

An update on Ethan Dotson:

Dotson was not the only driver to suffer issues during the practice session at All-Tech Raceway last night. McFadden reported that Brian Shirley, Dallon Murty, Garrett Alberson, and Dillon McCowan also faced issues.

Shirley suffered a right rear flat tire and hit the wall. Alberson’s team had an unknown issue, and McCowan wrecked after spinning in an attempt to avoid a car in front of him.

Things went awry for these four drivers in practice night at All-Tech:

– Brian Shirley: right-rear flat, hit wall
– Dallon Murty: overstepped Turn 1 entry, hit wall
– Garrett Alberson: team diagnosing an issue

As for Murty, he also hit the wall. He explained to McFadden what happened, “Just pushing it a little too hard there. Got a little hot getting into 1 and caught the fence a little bit. All cosmetic stuff on the right front. So we’ll have it fixed and ready to go for tomorrow.”

While Dotson, Shirley, Murty, Alberson, and McCowan had some setbacks, Brandon Overton posted the fast time in Hot Laps Session 5 with a lap of 16.367. Hudson O’Neal had the second fastest time in Session 6 with a time of 16.587. Brandon Sheppard post a lap of 16.621 in Session 5 for the third fastest time. Carson Ferguson was just thousands off that time with a lap of 16.627 in Session 6. That was good for fourth fastest. The fifth fastest lap was Chris Madden with a time of 16.636 in Session 6.
