When asked if he had talked to Hocevar following the race, Chastain responded, “No.” When asked if he plans to, he also said, “No.”
He was then asked to share if he had any more thoughts about last week. He responded, “I think I’m still disappointed. Just disappointed in the decisions because I lost. Because I lost.”

On the final restart of the race at Atlanta, Chastain lined up on the front row beside Kyle Larson with Carson Hocevar behind him. As the pack came out of Turn 2, Hocevar shot to the middle with Chastain attempting to block him. The light block did not work and Hocevar was able to spit out Chastain who was left out to dry on the bottom with both Josh Berry, Ryan Blaney, and the rest of the bottom line following Hocevar through the middle.
As for what Hocevar and Chastain discussed following the race at Atlanta, Hocevar said immediately following the race, ”
Honestly, it was really about the Triple Dipper at Chili’s, honestly. Obviously, that’s not true, but that’s between me and him to discuss. If anything maybe I’ll invite him to Chili’s.”
“Sometimes you agree and disagree [with] things,” he also added. “Ultimately, I felt like I made the decision that was to win the race and I think we’ll be able to continue to talk about because, obviously, we have each others phone numbers.”
