Ethan Dotson and ASD Motorsports have reportedly recruited veteran crew chief Cody Mallory for the team’s 2026 campaign.

Dirt late model insider Racin’ Jason informs StockCarReport.com that “Cody Mallory is the new chief at ASD Motorsports.”

Mallory worked with Ryan Gustin and Todd Cooney Motorsports for the beginning half of 2025, but departed the team around June. DirtonDirt.com’s Kyle McFadden reported in September, “Gustin and his No. 19r team has been operating without a designated crew chief since Cody Mallory left the team in mid-June.”

Mallory has worked with the best of the business over the last decade or so. He previously wrenched with Scott Bloomquist as well as Chris Madden and Nick Hoffman who filled in for Bloomquist after his infamous motorcycle accident in March 2019.

In 2020, he worked with Jimmy Owens and Ramirez Motorsports. The team won 20 races as well as the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series championship.

He teamed up with Bobby Pierce and his family-owned team in 2021. Additionally, he worked with Garrett Smith from 2022 and 2023 and aided Kyle Strickler in ’23 as well. He also worked with the Rocket Chassis house car program.

Dotson finished 10th in the World of Outlaws Late Models points this past year. He had one win at Farmer City Raceway back in April, 8 top 5s and 17 top 10s in 42 features. The team had a number of crew members including R.C. Whitwell as well as Nick Carpenter and Brady Muzny. Tyler Brashears also managed the team’s shop.

Dotson’s win at Farmer City Raceway was his lone win of the season. However, outside of the Outlaws he did nab a couple of podium finishes including second places at Needmore Speedway, Screven Motor Speedway, Senoia Raceway, East Alabama Motor Speedway, Boothill Speedway, and Whynot Motorsports Park.
