Sam Mars shared a health update after he barrel rolled multiple times at the beginning of the Last Chance Qualifier race with the World of Outlaws at I-55 Federated Auto Parts Raceway.

Mars started second and on the outside of Kyle Bronson for the Last Chance Qualifier. As he was attempting to exit turn 2, he hit a rut and the car got up on two wheels and began rolling over multiple times as well as receiving a shot from Jackson Hise before it eventually came to a stop on his roof. Track officials quickly arrived at the scene and World of Outlaws announcer Ruben Mireles announced that he was okay.

After exiting the car, Mars told DirtVision’s Ashton Smyth, “I just went in and there’s just so many holes here tonight it’s so hard to get through the racetrack. Unfortunately, I caught one really bad and went for a ride. All my family is watching from home, mom, grandpa, grandma, everybody, I’m okay. Really sucks. We had a fast car all night. Shouldn’t have really been in a B. I made a mistake in the heat race running second. Unfortunately, the track just bit us tonight. Hopefully, it’s not destroyed. I’m assuming it is. So, really deflating.”

In a post to Facebook, Mars provided an update. He wrote, “Took a pretty wild ride last night at I-55 Federated Auto Parts Raceway. Unfortunately got bouncing through the holes and it took off and I went for a ride. Thank you to the track crew and World of Outlaws Late Model Series officials for the quick work to get me out of the car.”

“Thankfully was able to walk away unharmed due to all of my safety equipment and car,” he added. “Had a bad fast car all weekend but also nice to see how well everything held up and how safe these MB Customs Cars are. Huge thank you to everyone who makes this whole deal possible, we will get it fixed and be back as soon as possible!
