Ray Cook and the Schaeffer’s Oil Spring Nationals announced that their series opening races for this upcoming weekend at Swainsboro and Senoia Raceway have been postponed due to saturated grounds and impending weather.
A press release from the series revealed that both Swainsboro Raceway and Senoia Raceway informed Cook on February 24th that their tracks “are heavily saturated from recent rain and cold temperatures.” Additionally, there is “the potential of more wet weather on the way later this week.” Thus both races have been postponed.
“We hate to lose our opening weekend, but both tracks contacted me today and told me the same exact thing… they can’t even get on the track to start preparing it,” Cook said. “Just part of it with the wet weather we’ve had and the cold temperatures. We are working with both Swainsboro Raceway and Senoia Raceway to find a suitable make-up date for both races. Both are great tracks to work with and we look forward to working with both of them in the near future.”
As Cook noted, they are working with the tracks to reschedule the races, but no dates have been announced or confirmed yet.
With this opening weekend postponed, the series won’t be back in action for about month where they’ll have a double header in South Carolina. First, they’ll compete on Friday, March 20th at Modoc Speedway for a $10,004 to win race. Then they’ll head to the “The Place Your Mama Warned You About” Cherokee Speedway on Saturday, March 21st with $20,053 on the line for the winner. Both of those races are also co-sanctioned by the Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series presented by Showtime Properties.
